Disney’s CEO Bob Iger Says If Steve Jobs Was Alive, the Two Companies Would Have Likely Merged

Disney’s CEO Bob Iger has shared an excerpt from his upcoming memoir in which he says that if Steve Jobs was alive today, he would have merged the two companies or seriously given the prospect a thought.

Bob Iger and Steve Jobs were good friends before they were the CEOs of their respective companies. Iger had played a huge role in Disney acquiring Pixar from Apple and getting Steve Jobs on Disney’s board of directors list.

With every success the company has had since Steve’s death, there’s always a moment in the midst of my excitement when I think, I wish Steve could be here for this. It’s impossible not to have the conversation with him in my head that I wish I could be having in real life. More than that, I believe that if Steve were still alive, we would have combined our companies, or at least discussed the possibility very seriously.

When Iger had joined Disney as the CEO, the relationship between Apple and Disney was rocky at best. Jobs had sworn to not work with Disney ever due to his disagreements with the company’s previous CEO Michael Eisner. Just a few weeks after Iger became the CEO of Disney, Apple announced the video iPod and that Disney’s entire content library was coming to iTunes.

Three months later, Disney was set to acquire Pixar from Apple for $7.4 billion. Right before the deal was going to be announced to the media though, Jobs and Iger went on a long walk in which the Apple CEO revealed that his cancer was back.

Apple’s system status page shows that it is currently having an outage with the App Store, Apple TV, and the Mac App Store. The page states that certain users might not be able to access the App Store, download apps or make purchases until the issue is rectified.

The status page is also reporting an outage with FaceTime, iMessage and the Volume Purchase Program.

There’s not much you can do right now if you are facing issues while accessing the App Store. You will have to sit back and wait until Apple gets around to fixing the outage. Looking at Apple’s past record, the outage will likely be fixed within a few hours.



Outages in Apple’s online services have once again become pretty frequent. There was a similar outage earlier this month as well. The company really needs to work on improving the backend of its online services to ensure that such outages don’t happen on a frequent basis.

The numbers reported today refer only to paying subscribers and exclude any user on the Apple Music three-month free trial or the Spotify ad-supported subscription tier. If the figures did include the free tiers, Spotify does have many more users overall in the United States.




In February 2018, the WSJ predicted that Apple Music would soon overtake Spotify in the U.S., but thanks to Spotify's numerous bundle offerings with Hulu and Showtime, Spotify remained in the lead for a while longer. 3 Discard the .ipsw File and Download Again

Discarding the .ipsw file and attempting to download it again may fix the issue. To delete the file follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Go to the Finder on your Mac and hold down the Option key on the keyboard.

Step 2: Select the "Go" menu and then click on "Library" which is often invisible unless you hold down the Option Key.

Step 3: Find the iTunes folder and look for iPad Software Updates, iPhone Software Updates and iPod Software Updates.

Step 4: Find the filename that ends with "Restore.ipsw" and delete it.



Now attempt the download again and see if it works.




4 Connect To A Different Network

Since this is usually a network related issue, simply connecting the computer to a different network may fix the problem. You may also want to try restoring the device using a different computer if you have more than one.

5 Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Sometimes third-party software can alter the default packet size in Windows by adding a TcpWindowSize entry in your registry. Resetting the Internet protocol can help.
